Hi there! So... LET'S ROCK! Hi! My name is Digital_Elf and I'm fan of fantasy. That big fan, that I worked a lot to build this site. I know it is not much, but you'll have your satisfaction. I tried to collect as much information as I found on the Internet. I was searching information about elves and fairies and ancient things, and I skipped the modern poetry as the fruit of someone's imagination. There are so many people thinking that they are elves... phiu! ... and writing about that! Man! [nodding] That is not bad, don't take me wrong, I just want to say that was out of my interest. I was looking for as much serious information as I could find. So, in order to understand the principle of Elf, I was seeking specific information related to ELF. I saw on Web that ELF is mostly related to Santa Claus' helpers (see www.claus.com). From what I know (and as I use), the ELF is a much more serious thing. It is the spirit of the AIR, and is represented by an archer, in hunter's outfit, with pale skin, blond hair, green eyes and pointed ears. He has keen sight-seeing and hearing and is in very concordance with nature. As in some dictionaries, the ELF is a supernatural force of nature (air, earth, fire, a.s.o.), good or evil, imagined as a dwarf - especially in the Germanic legends. It is GNOME related and during the RUNES' era. Some parts of character are well figured in WarCraft II game, under the name of "Archer", warrior of Human Army. Although I searched the Web for information about origin of ELF, I didn't find anything. Some of the sites (rarely that treat ELF as a mithologic entity) don't have the knowledge of his origins. Some treat scandinavian, some - germanic mithology, but none says something like "ELF is born in the Germanic legends, as a nature entity, and there are the Big-Eye Elf, the Dark Elf, the Sad Elf, which said that and had been somewhere and did that, etc.". Was ELF a human? What an ORC is? How about a TROLL? Are they related to VIKINGS? Where in time are they all located? 1000 years ago? 2000? 10,000? That's what I expected to find on Web (hard information I'm talking about) and I didn't. So I started to search... I begun looking for the words ELF, ORC and TROLL in the Dictionary. This is what I found: In Larousse Dictionary: OK, I said. "MYTH. SCAND.". Good. Very good. That's a start. But what the hack did they meant about MYTH? (See details in the Mithology page) So I looked for MYTH as it is (not for Mythology). This is what I found: MYTH: Fabulous story which collects (antiques) people's believes about the origin of the universe and natural phenomena, about gods and legendary heroes. Correct. Fabulous story blah-blah-blah. But! There was such things as fabulous and legendary. What exactly means this fabulous thing? And legendary? What thing is to be done next? To go search for the words. FABULOUS: I. ADJ. You use Fabulous to say how wonderful or impressive something is; II. ADJ. ATTRIB. Fabulous creatures, places, or things occur in stories or legends, but are not real or true. Of course I was interested in the number I part, for the Legend. LEGEND: A legend is a very old story that may be based on real events. Listen: "may be based"... In English, that better be translated in "may be, or may be not". So? So, before concluding, I take a good breath. "Elves and Bros" are imaginary creatures, they appear in mythology - which is fabulous - which is legendary - which is old but (very important) may be or maybe not real. I draw a line and sum all up. A question was the answer: ARE THEY OR AREN'T THEY REAL, THOSE F**KING ELVES ?!?!?!
